Penggunaan kalimah Allah

"Entah kenapa tergerak hati I utk berkongsi pengalaman I semasa study di Indonesia ( in Central Java, Yogyakarta tobe exact ). Dont get me wrong, bukan niat I nak buktikan apa2 disini hanya sekadar berkongsi pengalaman dgn u all. U know lah I ni kan suka bercerita hal2 kisah benar ( sumpah tak tokok tambah).
This happened almost 40 over yrs ago ( maybe now dah berubah) and I was then staying with a Javanese family where Ibu was a pious Catholic , bapak was a non-practising Muslim ( probably 'Kejawen') and the children had all been baptised in church by the dominant Ibu.. There were about 5/6 Malaysians ( boys & girls) staying at her place at any one time. I used to sleep with her sometimes ( Bapak & ibu had long slept separately ). .She used to read the Indonesian/ Javanese version of the Bible before bed, but she never tried to make me read it or tried to influence me/us. On the contrary she always peeped/ knocked on our doors to check if we had done our Maghrib or Subuh prayer and questioned us if we didnt fast during Ramadhan. Sometimes out of curiosity I did borrow the Bible to read ( the Ind'sia version). Memang saling tak tumpah macam baca kitab Agama Islam 'cos sekali belek dah nampak penuh dgn perkataan 'Allah' everywhere when Jesus was mentioned ( Tuhan Allah).

On Sundays when I tuned on their amateur radio stations ( stasion radio amatur) mesti ada sermon sebijik macam kutbah Jumaat kita lengkap dengan 'Tuhan Allah' being repeated. Initially I was quite confused thinking it was Kutbah Jumaat, but I always got to remind myself that it was not a Friday prayer kutbah/ ceramah Agama. That time we always came across these young handsome smartly dressed Mat Salleh boys ( must be Dutch) cycling to desa2 on their missions ( they spoke fluent Ind'sian) .

Later I moved out to be near my campus. When Bapak passed away we went to pay our respecct, to our surprise Bapak was in a coffin dressed in suits and looking handsome with make-up. We found out later that Ibu had baptised Bapak on his death bed, ( semasa nazak), Nauzubillah. Bapak's family was quite annoyed, so to be fair to everybody she had organised two 'Tahlil' one for Muslims and another night Christian style.

This left a real impact on me, so much so that when I went to Yogya for the first time since I left I went in search of her family again ( last 5-8th Dec 2009). Ibu had long died and the house was taken over by her youngest and only son, no need to guess or ask 'cos when we entered we were greeted by 4 huge dogs and on the wall was a cross with Jesus being crucified and on the console table was Mariam with baby Jesus.

Alhamdulillah a few of my Chinese/ Javanese friends have converted to Islam.
... Nauzubillah, Wallahua'lam. .
O.k I have to stop here for now takut my message dissappeared as usual if too long.

luv,

XXX
